The gateway to freedom...
A city that now weeps.
A great statue in its harbor...
A torch of liberty in her hand held high.
A nation mourns...watching her shed a tear.
With her, America cries...
We the people...

A city, a country is wounded...
But its lifeblood remains strong.
>From the ashes, a shining symbol is raised...
And hope is steadfast against a terrible wrong.
We the people...

Souls are lost...
But the heart and soul of a great people
Will not vanish from the Earth...
They will perservere again.
The light of freedom restored
Where the pall of darkest evil had been.
We the people...

A world joins a great nation...
In one unified and thunderous voice...
We shall overcome...we shall survive...
We the people....
