Jets Fans Score 75G For News' Victims Fund By AMY SACKS

Former Jets players joined hundreds of the team's fans at the ESPN SportsZone in Times Square yesterday, the final day of the "Jets-a-Thon" auction, which raised more than $75,000 for the Daily News Fund to aid disaster relief. "The auction succeeded beyond our expectations," said Bob Parente, Jets vice president for business operations. Parente said the Jets have promised to match the final total raised through the week-long "Jets-a-Thon" and will donate all proceeds to the Daily News Fund. Bidding ended at 6 p.m. yesterday, and the total is expected to be tallied today. ESPN radio (WEVD, 1050 AM) broadcast the event live from the packed sports bar between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., while fans and former team members played air hockey, drank beer and watched the Giants game. The Jets career rushing leader, Freeman McNeil, and other former players joined ESPN on the air to rally last-minute bids for the 13 Jets items that were up for grabs on eBay. The hottest ticket item was a pair of 50-yard-line tickets for life - which by 2p.m. yesterday had a high bid of $50,100. A trip to the Super Bowl fetched a bid for $8,000, and an away-game trip with the team was bidding at $5,000. Meanwhile, die-hard Jets fan Pat Ferguson stopped by the event for a beer and left with two tickets to last night's game against the Miami Dolphins. The tickets were donated by former Jet Bob Baxter. "This is so great. I'm so happy," said Ferguson, 37, of New City, Rockland County, who spent $20 on the raffle ticket. "Hopefully, I can hook up with my friends in time for the tailgating party." For one former football star, coming out to support the "Jets-a-Thon" was more personal. "I wanted to be down here, especially because it affected me personally," said John Nitti, a former Jets running back, who lost his brother-in-law, Firefighter Brian McAleese, in the attacks on the World Trade Center. Donations to the Daily News Fund continue to pour in from people around the country and total nearly $4 million. To contribute to the Daily News Fund, send a check or money order to Daily News Charities, P.O. Box 3307, New York, N.Y. 10001. To contribute by credit card, call (212) 210-2244, Monday to Friday, 8a.m. to noon.
