Christopher Mozzillo He Enjoyed the Pride and
the Brotherhood September 22, 2001 Christopher Mozzillo had just
climbed off his motorcycle when the alarm sounded, summoning Engine
55 in Little Italy to the Twin Towers. Mozzillo, 27, had been
stationed there for most of his two years as a firefighter. He
was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Staten Island, where he graduated
from Monsignor Farrell High School. He earned a degree in environmental
science from St. John's University. "He loved life," said his
girlfriend, Alison Osmer, and he always seized the moment. The
husky 6-footer had a silly side, she said, but he was serious
about his life and had his plans for the future mapped out. The
pride and the challenge and the brotherhood and being in a position
to help people are what intrigued him about being a firefighter.
He is survived by his parents, Lydia and Michael, a retired firefighter
at Engine 318 in Coney Island, Brooklyn; sister Pamela, and brother
Daniel. --Collin Nash (Newsday)

and courageous. Mozzillo’scompany was among the first to respond
