Firefighter
Peter Langone is a firefighter with the Roslyn Rescue Fire Company,
and serves as a member of the department’s training staff. Peter
joined the department on June 6, 1982, and is a career firefighter
with the New York City Fire Department. The fire department has
been part of Peter Langone’s life since childhood. His father,
Paul, brother Tommy, and sisters Joanne and Rosemarie, have all
served in the department over the last twenty years. In the mid-1980’s,
Peter held the rank of Lieutenant, followed soon after by Captain.
In these roles, Peter worked to bring new ideas and concepts to
the volunteer fire service in Roslyn. While his career keeps him
busy, Peter always makes time for the fire department. The members
look forward to his semi-annual hose handling trainings, and his
very direct approach to instructing the operation of an emergency
vehicle. His experience is valued throughout the department. Peter
has seen disaster strike many times, from large-scale incidents
such as the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center to local incidents
like the crash of Avianca Flight 52 and countless fatal auto accidents.
Langone holds an Associate’s Degree from Nassau Community College,
and has lived in the Roslyn community almost all of his life.
He lives in Roslyn Heights, Long Island, with his wife Terri,
and daughters Nikki, 9, and Karli, 5.
