Firefighter William Lake second from left on his HarleyRescue 2's senior man, Billy Lake, had three true loves. The first was his son and family, the second was Rescue 2 and the FDNY, and the third was his Harley Davidson and the friends he made as a result of it. Those friends - members of the Brooklyn Chapter of the Harley Owners Group - and many other friends gathered on October 14, 2001 to remember the man they laughed with and rode with - Billy Lake. The ride, which was called The Billy Lake/Rescue 2 Memorial Ride, was organized to benefit the widows and children of those members of Rescue 2 who perished in the World Trade Center. The members of Rescue 2 expected about 50 bikes to arrive at their firehouse to pay homage to Billy Lake and his fallen brothers. The Brooklyn H.O.G. Chapter, however, must have put the word out to other chapters because the bikes just kept coming - approximately 700 bikes participated in the memorial ride from the headquarters of the Brooklyn H.O.G. chapter to Rescue 2 quarters. The members and families of Rescue 2 thank all those who came out in support of our brothers and our friends.
