Family Man and Athlete, Father of Two

Nov. 28, 2001

Michael A. Esposito, a firefighter frequently honored for bravery and excellence by New York City and the FDNY, also loved being with his two adolescent sons.

Esposito, 41, of Staten Island, dedicated his leisure time to his sons' athletic endeavors, whether it was coaching, watching or instilling values they could apply to their lives.

Recognized for his assistance during the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 and the upstate New York ice storm of 1998, Esposito was also honored as part of Staten Island's "Finest and Bravest Day."

In addition to his wife, Denise, and sons, Andrew, 15, and Michael, 12, Esposito is survived by parents Sam and Rose; four brothers, Frank, Sal, Joseph, and Simone as well as a stepbrother, Salvatore Mingoia.
