Wake
Held For Firefighter Killed In Iraq
DECEMBER 07TH, 2004
Thousands
of firefighters are expected to turn out this week to mourn one
of their own killed while serving in Iraq.
A
wake for National Guard Sergeant Chris Engeldrum will be held Tuesday
and Wednesday at the Schuyler Funeral Home in the Bronx. His funeral
will be Thursday.
The
39-year-old was a member of Ladder Company 61 in the Bronx, and
earlier he was also police officer in the 47th Precinct.
Engeldrum
died last week when a bomb exploded under his Humvee in Baghdad.
He
was a father of two boys, and his wife is pregnant with their third
child.
Meanwhile,
another local soldier is being mourned. Military officials say Bronx-born
Staff Sergeant Henry Irizarry was killed Friday, also when a bomb
went off near his Humvee.
The
38-year-old had moved to Connecticut recently. According to published
reports, the married father of four had hoped to be home on leave
for Christmas.
