The
30th annual Fun City Bowl at Giant's Stadium ended like so many
others. The FDNY football team succumbed to the NYPD Finest like
they have 20 other times. As always, not many points seperated
these two teams, with the Finest beating the Bravest 10 - 0. Early-on
the two teams exchanged missed field goals. There was a swirling
wind at the Meadowlands that made it pretty tough on the kickers.
Near the middle of the second quarter, the NYPD was able to put-up
three and take that lead to the locker room at half-time. Early
in the third the Bravest put together a drive that looked like
they might put one in the endzone. But, the Cop defense came up
big and stopped the Firemen in their tracks. In the middle of
the fourth quarter, the NYPD put it together and made their way
down the field sending Steven McGuire, a former University of
Miami Hurricane, into the endzone for the games only touchdown.
If you missed the game you can catch pieces of it on NBC Saturday
night, May 25th at either 8 or 9 o'clock. The game was shown live
on MSG and might be shown again on the Rewind. We'll see you soon.
