I
knew him as "Juan" when we were growing up together. We started our
friendship at P.S. 52 in seventh grade. Juan was a kind hearted soul and the best
athlete in school. He earned the nickname "Reggie" because he was such
a good hitter. He was always a little introverted if he didn't know you but if
he did, then you could find a true friend in him. I remember always wanting to
be around him and emulate him because he was a leader. We grew up together, chased
women, learned about life, and had great times. Juan was always introspective
and he could be moody at times, but he had a sharp and dry wit and a very understated
intelligence. To me, he was an enigma that I always admired and my greatest regret
is that I failed to spend time with him the last few years of his life. Life gets
busy when you start a family and you always feel you have more time. Juan, I will
always miss you.
Love, Julio

looking
back on my life and recalling all the people I've met, Juan stands
out. I
considered him one of my few friends. The type of person you feel
comfortable
talking with because you know he's listening. Juan is with me
in good times
and bad, you remember him and ask yourself what would
he do in this situation,
and usually you wind up smiling knowing that he
would have handled it calmly
and not let it get to him. He truely was one to
emulate.
P.S.
Juan, open invitation to "coogan's" Cruz, Kid & Tony. see you there.
