Firefighter Stephen Russell

Stephen P. Russell, born in Rockaway Beach, New York, was a lifelong resident of Arverne, New York. He was killed in the line of duty during the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center. Stephen worshipped at St. Rose of Lima. He was a member of Fire Engine Company 55 for the Fire Department of New York City. He was also a member of the Carpenter’s Union. He is survived by his parents, Clifford and Marie (Nee Mittmann); his brothers, Clifford and wife Christina, and William and wife Adrienne; three nephews, Evan, Cliff and Christopher; and a niece, Erika. Visitation will be held at Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home on Friday, November 2 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Saturday, November 3, 10 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima. Interment under the direction of Denis S. O’Connor, Inc. will be held at St. Johns Cemetery.
