Samuel Oitice - He Loved Fighting Fires, as Volunteer and as Pro October 5, 2001

A member of the Peekskill volunteer fire department since his youth, Samuel Oitice loved fighting fires so much he joined Ladder Co. 4, Engine 54 in Manhattan about 15 years ago, said his father, Julian. Oitice, 45, has been missing since the attacks on the World Trade Center. A graduate of Peekskill High School, Oitice lived in Peekskill with his wife, Jean, and two children, John, 18, Jessica 14. He is also survived by a brother, Joe, a detective with the Peekskill police, and his mother, Eleanor, also of Peekskill. --Kathryn Wellin (Newsday)
