For George DiPasquale, firefighting was the third most important thing in his life -- behind God and his family.

DiPasquale was described as a giant of a man, at 6-feet 5-inches tall, and possessed an equally large character. Friends at Ladder Co. 2 in Manhattan called him "Holy Man" out of respect and admiration.

The Staten Island resident and his wife, Melissa, had celebrated their nine-year wedding anniversary the weekend before, in Cape May, N.J. A dedicated father, he enjoyed basketball and playing the guitar.
